I’m still on a high from all the love and support on International Women’s day so I’m shining the spotlight on a female-owned company, Carbon38, for this week’s activewear review.

While scrolling through the vast ocean of gorgeous active apparel on Carbon38, I stumbled upon the Carbon38 Tanjung legging named after a cape in an island country after my own heart, Indonesia.

I purchased the Tanjung leggings in the Lilac color but had my eyes set on a beautiful bra from Running Bare.

Carbon38 is a luxury activewear company headed by fitness instructor turned CEO Katie Warner Johnson. Carbon38 carries a collection of high quality contemporary-style active apparel from various fitness-fashion brands, as well as its own in-house line.

Amongst the impressive list of designer activewear associated with Carbon38 is the brand Running Bare. Running bare is an Australian luxury activewear brand with active and athleisure designs made to fit the lifestyle of women ever so stylishly.

If you have your eyes set on the Tanjung legging, here’s the only Carbon38 legging review you need!

Running Bare Twist and shout bra

The bra is terribly cute and makes it easy to switch from workout to casual quite seamlessly. I didn’t need any adjustment while I wore them.

Also, The bra didn’t dig into my sides and had enough coverage so my boobs didn’t spill out on the sides.

Although the cut is low, I could do burpees without worrying that my boobs would fall out.

What I’d Improve

I wouldn’t call this an improvement as much as I’d call it a matter of preference. I’m not a fan of elastic bands and would rather have layered material in the waist.

I don’t like how elastic bands warp, but I didn’t see that happen with the Carbon38 Tanjung leggings. The waistband maintained its shape whenever I put them on or took them off.

Should You Buy Carbon38 Activewear?

  • Perfect for yoga, pilates, dancing, other studio workouts
  • Perfect for low to medium impact activities and can work as gym wear for anyone who wants to try something different from the usual gym aesthetic
  • Good for anyone not trying to break the bank for quality functional and flattering workout clothes. This Carbon38 outfit cost me a little under $100
  • Great for anyone trying to up their athleisure style

How I Care For Your Carbon38 Activewear

It’s important to know how to take care of workout clothes so that they can keep you looking and feeling good for as long as possible.

For these pieces, I would follow the manufacturer’s instructions as meticulously as possible. Both items have very clear explanations for washing and drying which makes life a little easier.

If you plan to machine-wash your Running Bare sports bra, take out the padding and hand-wash that instead.

The Carbon38 leggings are labeled as safe for ironing, although I’ve found that they really are wrinkle-resistant. Any little wrinkles will stretch out once you put the leggings on.

I prefer to hand-wash the leggings to avoid regrets but sometimes I get lazy so I throw them in the washer.

The woven details on the Carbon38 leggings and light color make it quite tricky for machine washing.

However, the weaves are strong and could survive a couple of machine washes as long as you put them in a separate laundry mesh bag.

Carbon 38 leggings and Running Bare sports bra

Description

Carbon38 Tanjung Leggings

These Carbon38 leggings are full-length with a high-rise waist and beautiful woven detail on both sides. The sturdy weave runs from the hips down to the hem to create the most flattering silhouette.

The waist is fitted with a thick elastic band and the crotch of the leggings has a triangular shaped gusset for an increased degree of motion.

The fabric is thick enough to provide proper coverage but not so much that you can’t survive a warm summer workout or hot yoga class.

These Carbon38 leggings are excellent at moisture-wicking, however, be aware that lighter colors aren’t the best at hiding sweat.

Also the antimicrobial feature of the fabric makes it so that the odor-causing bacteria can’t thrive during/after your sweat sesh.

Running Bare Twist and Shout Bra Review

The Running Bare twist-front and keyhole style of the bra was the major eye-catching feature for me.

The fabric is moderately stretchy and the cups are fitted with padding for a serious push-up effect. The bra is non-adjustable but has a wide under-band with good support to hold your girls throughout your day/workout.

Also, the fabric feels firm and the bra is well structured for lift and support.

I purchased the Running Bare bra for $53 (original retail price $75) which is quite on the high side but the quality is well worth it! Also, I bought the Carbon38 leggings on sale at $39 (original retail price: $128).

 Sizing Review

For reference, I’m a 27″ waist, 32″ bust (DD cup), 38″ hip, 5’8″ tall, and US clothing size 4.

After consulting the Carbon38 size chart and comparing my measurements against the chart, I found I was a size small for their leggings.

The tights fit just right from waist to hem, and there was no struggle getting in or out of these leggings.

Carbon38 Legging Sizing Tip:

“I recommend going with the size chart. If you’re in between sizes I recommend sizing up since these leggings are really compressive.”

What I loved

Carbon38 Tanjung Leggings

I absolutely love the unique weaving and color of these Carbon38 leggings. The Tanjung leggings are opaque, which makes them both bend-proof and squat-proof.

Whether you’re hitting the studio or taking an aerobics class, these leggings will give you the coverage and confidence you need!

Note, the light color of these Carbon38 tights might make every crease and fold more visible. However, you can feel more at peace if you wear nude or dark seamless underwear.

I don’t always feel comfortable in lighter colored leggings but I felt safe in these because of the fabric quality. Also, the generous elastane content of the fabric allowed me to move freely.
