Ivy Park is a sportswear brand that was founded by Beyonce Knowles in collaboration with Topshop.

Fast-forward to April 2019, news has it that Beyonce has bought out the entire Ivy Park label from Topshop. Queen Bey ditched the UK brand for a new partnership with Adidas to revamp the brand and we’re here for it!

The brand’s Instagram page has been wiped clean with only a handful of pictures of Beyonce to tide us over until the epic brand relaunch.

Ivy Park creates contemporary-style pieces designed to work “on and off the field”, so you can be sure to find active and athleisure wear alike.

Signature features of the Ivy Park activewear include straight cuts, asymmetric styles, color blocks, and super-heavy branding.

I found this outfit while looking for ways to step out of my comfort zone. The search for “red women’s activewear” on Google led me to this two-piece and I was immediately hooked!!

I’ve wanted to try Ivy Park activewear for the longest time and I’m glad I made it happen, and even happier to share this with you. Here’s my review of the Ivy Park asymmetrical striped activewear set!

  • Fabric: 79% polyamide, 22% elastane
  • Colors: Red, Black/metallic

Description

Ivy Park Asymmetrical Striped Leggings & Sports Bra

The Ivy Park Asymmetrical Striped sports bra features a halter-neck design with a color-blocked striped band forming the strap of the bra and the under-band.

The sports bra has no padding and a non-adjustable strap, but the elastic underband provides good support.

The leggings also have the same color-blocked stripe accent which forms the waistband and runs down the leg. The crotch is fitted with a triangular-shaped gusset and has seams that run around the top of your booty to accentuate your figure.

I couldn’t tell from the pictures online what shade of red this set was because the hues varied across different sites. The pictures here are an accurate display of what this Ivy Park set is like in real life… FIRE RED!

With 20% elastane content, this fabric can stretch for days. It’s also very smooth to the touch and has a high-quality feel.

The fabric is light-weight and opaque enough to provide decent coverage and keep your peaches behind the scenes!

The Ivy Park leggings are mid-rise with a textured elastic waistband that holds up through your workouts. The fabric is medium compression, but sculpts your figure to create a sleek flattering look.

If you’ve seen any of my previous activewear reviews, you’ll find that panty lines and crotch sweat are the banes of my existence. You should opt for seamless underwear for your leggings, but you might be better off going commando in your leggings to avoid panty lines altogether.

Ivy Park Sizing Review

For reference, I’m a 27″ waist, 32″ bust (DD cup), 38″ hip, 5’8″ tall, and US clothing size 4. I got the Ivy Park leggings and sports bra in sizes XS and S respectively after checking out their size chart (see Ivy Park sizing below).

The leggings and sports bra both fit true to size and I strongly recommend going with the size chart for Ivy Park activewear.

Ivy Park Sizing Tip

This fabric is quite forgiving, so you’ll be okay with a size on the chart that’s within 2 inches of your true hip and waist size. You can size down if you’re in between sizes.

What I Loved

I absolutely loved the unique and sleek design of this Ivy Park outfit. I’m a huge fan of asymmetrical designs, so this set hits the spot for me. The leggings held up well for mid-rise leggings and slipping was not an issue.

Something that stressed me out before I bought this outfit was the elastic waistband. I try to avoid those because they squeeze the life out of me and leave me with a juicy muffin top.

This waistband does not do that; it is comfortable and sits naturally on your skin.

I was also iffy about the halter strap pulling on the back of my neck like a hangman’s noose! But the bra strap rested perfectly on my neck and didn’t cause any discomfort.

What I’d Improve

The major downside of this Ivy Park sports bra is the coverage. I love the halter style of the bra, but my boobs practically fell out when I bent over to put on my leggings! I do not recommend this bra for C cups and above.

I used some double-sided fashion tape to keep the bra in place because this bra is too darn cute to be hidden under a workout top.

However, I’m not sure how much the tape will hold during an intense sweat-sesh. For this reason, I recommend this bra for athleisure wear instead of workout wear.

How I Care For Ivy Park Clothing

As I always say, follow the manufacturer’s instructions as much as you can. I prefer to hand-wash my sports bras because they’re easier to handle. I would wash these in cold water and if you’re using a machine, don’t use fabric softeners.

Dry these on a rack not directly under the sun or tumble-dry low in a dryer. There is no need to iron these because they’ll stretch out quite well even after they wrinkle.

As I said, the fabric is super smooth so naturally, you’ll want to maintain this for as long as possible. Luckily, polyamide fabrics are less prone to pilling, but you should avoid unnecessary abrasion.

Wash this Ivy Park workout set in a mesh bag to prevent them from getting snagged by other garment parts in the washer. See some tips on how to care for your activewear here.
