I’ve been on the prowl for the perfect on-the-go jacket- you know, the one that works with almost every outfit and every occasion- and I’ve finally found it!
I’d searched everywhere for an affordable black active jacket but I couldn’t find anything that spoke to my soul. Until I saw my friend in the Lululemon Define jacket- she looked amazing! But the thing is, anything Lululemon comes at a steep price…$128 apparently.
It took me a few months before I finally went into the store (with the same friend) and bought a jacket for the price of two quality leggings!
As soon as I touched and tried on the Define jacket, I got why it’s so costly.
If you’re not sure whether to invest in a Lulu jacket or just shopping around for your jacket soulmate, here’s my review of the Lululemon Nulux Define Jacket to help you decide!

Lululemon Nulux Define Jacket Review
The Lululemon Define jacket is a long-sleeve active jacket designed for layering during low to medium impact activities like yoga and hiking.
The Define jacket is made from the Nulux fabric- Lululemon’s signature soft, stretchy, and sweat-wicking fabric blend. The jacket also has a hidden mesh lining which helps wick away moisture from your skin while the flap allows for better ventilation.
The Lululemon Define Jacket is designed with a lot of supportive detailing 1) Cuffins™, the brand’s signature fold-over cuff design to keep your hands warm but can also double as a pocket 2) Thumbholes to keep your sleeves down on cold days, 3) Back flap and mesh inserts for breathability, and 4) Pockets to hold your life together; you can stash your giant phone, keys, and credit cards, or just bury your hands in the deep pockets.
Because the jacket fits snug, you can wear one layer underneath comfortably, but you will need to size up to fit more layers in.
The Define jacket has contouring seams around the bust, sides, and back that give you a hold-you-in-all-the-right-places fit.
Since they’re a little thicker, I prefer the Define jacket for outdoor workouts like slow morning jogs (I like to call them runs ha), or other less intense exercises on cool days.
I find that I have to take it off and tie around my waist once my workout starts getting too intense.
Look no farther for a well-constructed active jacket— thanks to the brand’s original performance fabric; super sturdy seams; solid zippers; and well-thought-out design — your Define jacket should last you a few years as long as you take proper care of them.
Lululemon Define Jacket Sizing Review
For reference, I’m a 27″ waist, 32″ bust (DD cup), and 38″ hip, and Lululemon size 6 for bottoms. I tried on the Lulu Define jacket in-store and bought it in size 4 which also corresponds to the Lululemon top size chart recommendation.
What I loved
Here’s what I loved about the Lululemon Define Jacket:
1. Fit & Style
The jacket is form-fitting and flattering, and the contouring seams create a sleek silhouette.
This is the everyday sporty jacket you’ve been looking for! I wear this Lulu jacket every day now, someone is going to have to peel it off me soon tbh.
Pair the Define jacket with leggings (or joggers) and sneakers for a casual look. You can also throw on your jacket after a workout and head to dinner while still looking out together.
What I’d Improve
A few downsides of the Define Jacket:
I acknowledge Lulu’s effort to make this jacket more breathable with the flap and quick-drying fabric, but the fabric is just too thick to allow much air through the yarn. Plus it holds on to smells, which means that you can only get a few wears in before they desperately need a wash.
There’s very minimal pilling in the underarm area which gets the most friction. Other than that, the fabric quality is great!
Should You Buy The Lululemon Define Jacket?
Hellz yeah, it’s worth it! You won’t need another jacket for a few years. I also bought the Define jacket in Luon fabric which is a bit more breathable than the Nulux fabric.
I’m wearing the Luon Define jacket with my Lululemon Fast and Free leggings in the post below.
The Lululemon Define jacket is…
- Perfect for low to medium impact activities like yoga (definitely not hot yoga). The fabric might be a bit too warm for high-intensity workouts. I usually start off my run with my jacket on but have to take it off mid-run to survive the rest of the workout.
- Great for layering during outdoor runs or as a cover-up after yoga.
- Not for the active girl on a budget. I’ll have to do a roundup of more affordable workout jackets soon.
How To Care For Your Lululemon Define Jacket
Avoid excess heat from washing in hot water, tumble-drying, or ironing as this can affect the strength of the fibers and degrade the fabric features. Instead, wash your Lululemon jacket in cold water and use a drying rack.
Also, avoid using fabric softener since it can seal the fabric, causing the fabric to become less breathable.
Place your Define jacket in a mesh bag before throwing them in the washer. This will ensure that your precious Nulux fabric doesn’t get snagged by parts from other clothing.
This jacket does hold on to smells so air your jacket out after each wear. I try to wear my jacket for less intense workouts so I can get away with just airing it out instead of washing frequently. This way, I can get 3-4 wears in before washing.
Follow these steps to keep your Lululemon jacket in pristine condition!
